Twitter has been collaborating with industry partners for the past 15 months to deploy OpenBMC in our production datacenters. In this talk we detail our motivation for considering OpenBMC; our efforts to bring together partners to collaborate in a common codebase; issues and obstacles faced; and finally our progress and production readiness. We’ll discuss how we worked with peer companies to identify a common feature set; the enhancements that we needed for our adoption; and how we bridged the gap between the incumbent commerical solution and OpenBMC. This presentation is targeted towards organizations that experience a high level of BMC software related issues and want to take more control of their own solution.
